CIAO from Napoli...: An anniversary to remember...

Sunday, our final day in Paris....we decided that we had seen all that we had really wanted to see, so a nice day of just wandering around would do the trick. Oh yeah, and a stop at the top of the Eiffel Tower!

We made one more stop at the Champs-Elysees for some people watching, coffee and window shopping.

I had to go into THE Louis Vuitton store, three stories of the prettiest bags! Sadly we walked out empty handed since the prices were even higher than normal due to this being the flagship store in Paris of all places. But it was funny to watch the sheer amount of money this place makes! (we watched somebody buy a $40k necklace, not even kidding)

We also stumbled on the taping of a commercial for the video game Gran Torino. About 10 impressive and very expensive looking race cars came flying by dodging in and out of normal Sunday traffic. No cops, no barriers or anything...just these racers going about 70 up and down the street while they were filmed. Guess they don't require permits or anything in Paris.

Once the "race" was over, we hit up the Metro one more time to go and find what Rick Steve's referred to as the "best view" of the Eiffel Tower, aside from being at the top of course. Here's what we found...not a bad view at all, Rick!

Since the weather took a turn for the worse once we got here, the clouds ruined the scenery a bit...still impressive anyways, I think!

We kept laughing at how people take so many silly tourist photos, the jumping in the air in front of monuments seemed to be a popular one...so naturally I had Andrew give it a try.

With the rain coming down a bit and scaring some of the crowds away, we took advantage of the smaller lines and went straight for the Eiffel Tower to FINALLY go to the top! This was the one thing I really wanted to do, yes the most touristy spot of all of Paris, but hey...

This was definitely a highlight for me, but my most favorite part of the day/trip was our anniversary champagne in the park...

My surprise for Andrew...our champagne flutes from our wedding day (have to give my Mom credit for this one!)

After the sunset at the Tower, we got cleaned up for a nice dinner at Le Procope - the oldest restaurant in Paris, founded in 1686. Back in the day, people like Voltaire, Robespierre and even Ben Franklin used to have dinner here...and now the Baughmans!

Andrew got the beef cheek (we laughed for a bit trying to figure out if it was butt or face cheek, apparently it was face! Yes, we are like 5 year olds...) and I got the chicken...both delicious!
